AND, WE'RE OFF!
The Rochester Economic Development Commission and Alpha Loft have announced the launch of Start Up 2016, a competition where new businesses get the opportunity to compete for a cash-and-in-kind prize package in a lively "Shark Tank"-style public forum.
The winner, who be announced in early November, will be eligible for a prize package that includes at least $30,000 in cash and in-kind services.
"Rochester and the Seacoast region is definitely a great place to grow a business," said Rochester's Economic Development Manager Karen Pollard. "This event gives everyone the chance to see all the really creative and cutting edge work that is being done in the region. It also gives us the opportunity to show just how welcoming and business-friendly this community is."
This will be the fourth year for the competition that has helped launch several homegrown entrepreneurs onto a bigger stage. Contestants submit an application with a five-page summary that addresses key questions about their new business from the size of the market to the pricing and distribution model.
